Volunteering

East York Meals on Wheels was established by volunteers since the very beginning in 1969. Today, volunteers continue to be the driving force behind all of the agency’s daily activities. Last year alone nearly 200 volunteers contributed over 7,500 hours of their valuable time to helping our organization continue to serve the East York community.

There are many volunteer opportunities at East York Meals on Wheels for you to get involved!

Here are some of the volunteer roles at EYMOW!

  • Board of Directors

  • Fundraising

  • Administrative and clerical work

  • Meals on Wheels drivers

  • Meals on Wheels runners

  • Meals on Wheels meal packers

  • Diners Club reservation clerks

  • Telephone Reassurance callers

Drivers for Meals on Wheels are reimbursed – at a flat rate – for travel expenses. Time commitment varies depending on the volunteer opportunity. It can be as little as a couple of hours per month, or several hours per week.
